Common questions

The more you can tell us about the space and the deadline, the more accurate the first quote will be.

How much does a sign cost?

It depends on size, materials, whether it is illuminated and how it has to be installed, so we price every project individually. Send us the location and a rough size and we will give you an itemized quote showing where the money goes, with options at different budgets where they exist.

How long does it take?

Printed graphics, banners and window lettering are the quickest. Fabricated and illuminated signs take longer because they involve design approval, fabrication and often a permit. We give you a schedule with the quote and tell you straight away if your deadline is at risk.

Do I need a permit?

Most permanent exterior signs do, and most landlords have their own sign rules on top. Interior signs, window lettering and temporary banners usually do not, though some cities limit them. We check what applies to your address before we design anything.

How do I make sure my sign can be read?

Size the letters for the distance: a common rule of thumb is one inch of letter height for every ten feet of viewing distance. Use strong contrast between the letters and the background, and keep the message short. Most people give a sign about three seconds, so a name and one supporting line beats a list of services.

Which materials last longest outdoors?

It depends on the sign. Aluminum and aluminum composite panels are the usual choice for rigid outdoor signs because they do not rust or warp. Acrylic is used for illuminated faces and dimensional letters. For vehicles and windows, cast vinyl with a protective laminate holds up far better than cheaper films. We will recommend a material for your climate, your budget and how long the sign needs to last.
